APSDMA regularly conduct mock drills and exercises in district level line departments and also emphasizes the participation of the general public to raise awareness regarding the importance of such drills.

Disaster specific mock exercises are also organized in areas that are highly prone to specific disasters by SDMA which has proved to bring down the casualty numbers in the event of a disaster.

APSDMA through the capacity building program conducts cyclone evacuation drill & Shelter level evacuation drill along the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. With the introduction of the new capacity building tools, such mock drills and exercises will be made available to general public.

Table Top Exercise at Nagayalanka Mandal, Krishna District

Aim of the programme

The aim of the Mock Exercise (ME) is to inculcate a culture of preparedness amongst community, to evaluate the resources available with various departments of state, to coordinate the activities of various agencies and use the feedback to identify the gaps and improve upon them.

Objective

All stakeholders present their Disaster Management Plans and their respective roles, thereafter, based on the disaster being practiced various scenarios are given out to the participants. The moderator of the TTEx then takes in the response from the audience on a serious of such situations. Subsequent to it, a details discussion takes place with participation from the state officials and other observers. Details of coordination and safety are also discussed

The goal of the exercise was to familiarize participants with the stakeholder responsibilities and provide an opportunity to evaluate their SOPs for Cyclone warnings. The exercise is designed to elicit constructive discussion from the participants to assess plans, policies, and procedures.

Table Top Exercise (TTEx) at ETCHERLA MANDAL, Srikakulam District

Aim of the programme

The aim of the Mock Exercise (ME) is to inculcate a culture of preparedness amongst community, to evaluate the resources available with various departments of state, to coordinate the activities of various agencies and use the feedback to identify the gaps and improve upon them.

The objectives of the ME are to review the Disaster Management Plan of the state/UT/District, to evaluate the Emergency Response Plan and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and in doing so enhance coordination amongst various stakeholders.
