National Database for Emergency Management

NDEM is conceived as a GIS based repository of data sets to support disaster/emergency management in the country. The database enables development of decision support system in the form of customized user interfaces with necessary security mechanism. APSDMA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO to customize the platform for Andhra Pradesh State.

Currently the NDEM Portal provides data sets during emergencies that are provided as GIS layers for analysis. Availability of historical data, road maps, drainage patterns, surface water bodies, emergency services and other pertinent layers are at hand whenever a hazard is recorded. This directly assists emergency services located near to the affected region to assemble required support by detecting the nearest working service through the NDEM portal.
