  • UNICEF-Hyderabad Field Office (Office for the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana), is implementing a comprehensive School Safety Programme in Andhra Pradesh, to ensure safety of children and teachers in the schools and in the campus by adopting the 3 pillar approach – Safe learning facilities, Risk Reduction and Resilience Education and School Disaster Management. The School Safety and Hygiene program covers 302 schools in 16 mandals with the intention of reaching out to 39,000 school children and their teachers with the support of the Department of School Education, Govt. of AP. Apart from this, UNICEF, HFO is facilitating the process of preparing State Disaster Management Plan in line with Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and National Disaster Management Plan.
  • UNICEF is also enhancing the role of APSDMA in promoting resilence of women and children in coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh through Community Development and Cyclone Shelter Management project. Target districts are Srikakulam, East Godavari, Prakasam and Nellore. The project duration is from June to December 2017.
  • UNICEF has also supported APSDMA in the formulation and development of the State Disaster Management Plan for the whole state.
